Clinical effect of Methylprednisolone combined with Azithromycin in the treatment of children with Mycoplasma pneumoniae infectious lobar pneumonia |

Abstract Objective To explore the clinical effect of Methylprednisolone combined with Azithromycin in the treatment of children with Mycoplasma pneumoniae infectious lobar pneumonia. Methods The clinical data of 86 children with Mycoplasma pneumoniae infectious lobar pneumonia in our hospital from October 2017 to October 2018 were selected,they were divided into control group and observation group according to the treatment plan, 43 cases in each group.The control group was treated with Azithromycin, the observation group was treated with Methylprednisolone and Azithromycin. The efficacy, hospitalization time, symptom recovery time (absorption of lung shadows, disappearance of lung rales and and antipyretic) between the two groups were compared, and lung function (peak expiratory flow rate[PEF], forced vital capacity [FVC], forced expiratory volume in the first second [FEV1]) and inflammatory state (serum C-reactive protein [CRP], interleukin-8 [IL-8], interleukin-6 [IL-6]) before treatment and two weeks after treatment between the two groups were compared. Results The total effective rate in the observation group was 97.67%, which was higher than that in the control group of 81.40%, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The hospitalization time, lung shadow absorption time, lung rales disappearance time and antipyretic time in the observation group were shorter than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). After two weeks of treatment, the levels of PEF, FVC and FEV1 in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, and the levels of serum CRP, IL-8 and IL-6 in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion The combination of Methylprednisolone and Azithromycin has a significant effect on Mycoplasma pneumoniae infectious lobar pneumonia, which can shorten the recovery time of symptoms and hospitalization time, improve lung function of the children, and reduce the inflammation state.
