Abstract Objective To investigate the application effect of holistic nursing in weight loss for obese patients with endocrine disorders. Methods From May 2019 to May 2021, 160 obese patients with endocrine disorders admitted to the Department of Gastroenterology, People′s Hospital of Yangdong District in Yangjiang City were selected as the research objects, and were divided into the control group (80 cases) and the observation group (80 cases) by random number table method, both groups were treated with endocrine regulation, the control group was given routine care, and the observation group was given holistic care on the basis of the control group. The efficacy of weight loss, compliance of weight loss nursing behavior, nursing satisfaction, self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) score and self-rating depression scale(SDS) score before and after intervention were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of weight loss and the rate of compliance of weight loss in the observation group were higher than that of the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Before intervention, there were no statistically significant differences in SAS and SDS scores between the two groups (P>0.05). After intervention, the SAS and SDS scores of the two groups were lower than those before intervention, and the SAS and SDS scores of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The nursing satisfaction of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion The application of holistic nursing to obese patients with endocrine disorders can improving the outcome of weight loss, enhancing the compliance of patients with weight loss medical care, reducing negative emotions and improving nursing satisfaction.
