Effect of Citalopram combined with Eszolam on oxidative stress level and sleep quality in patients with depression complicated with sleep disorder |

Abstract Objective To investigate the effect of Citalopram combined with Eszolam on oxidative stress level and sleep quality in patients with depression complicated with sleep disorder. Methods A total of 80 patients with depression complicated with sleep disorder admitted to Ganzhou Municipal Hospital from January to September 2020 were selected as the research objects, and were divided into single drug group (40 cases) and combined group (40 cases) by random number table method. The single drug group received Citalopram treatment, and the combined group was given Estazolam treatment on the basis of the single drug group, both groups were treated for 3 months. The depressive symptoms,oxidative stress levels and sleep quality of the two groups were compared. Results Before treatment, there were no significant differences in malondialdehyde, endothelin-1, nitric oxide and superoxide dismutase between the two groups(P>0.05). After treatment, the levels of malondialdehyde and endothelin-1 in the two groups were lower than those before treatment, and the levels of nitric oxide and superoxide dismutase were higher than those before treatment, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of malondialdehyde and endothelin-1 in combined group were lower than those in single drug group, and the levels of nitric oxide and superoxide dismutase in combined group were higher than those in single drug group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Before treatment, there were no significant differences in the scores of Hamilton depression scale (HAMD) and Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI) between two groups (P>0.05). After treatment, HAMD and PSQI scores of both groups were lower than those before treatment, and HAMD and PQI scores in the observation group were lower than those in the single drug group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Citalopram combined with Estazolam can effectively improve the depressive symptoms and sleep quality of patients with depression and sleep disorders,and down-regulate the level of oxidative stress in the body.
