| Application of clinical nursing pathway intervention in patients with rectal cancer undergoing chemotherapy |

Abstract Objective To explore the application of clinical nursing pathway intervention in patients with rectal cancer undergoing chemotherapy.Methods From January 2017 to August 2019, 100 patients with rectal cancer treated by chemotherapy in our hospital were selected as the study objects.According to the random number table method, they were divided into the control group (n=50) and the observation group (n=50).The control group was given routine nursing, and the observation group was given clinical nursing path intervention.The health knowledge, the total incidence of adverse events and patients′ total satisfaction were compared between the two groups.Results After intervention, the scores of disease occurrence and development, treatment principle, basic knowledge of peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) and precautions in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, with statistical differences (P＜0.05); the total incidence of adverse events in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, with statistical difference (P＜0.05); the total satisfaction of patients in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, with statistical difference (P＜0.05).Conclusion Clinical nursing pathway intervention can be used in patients with rectal cancer undergoing chemotherapy to improve their health knowledge and satisfaction and improve their safety.
