Clinical application effect of the modified midline catheter |

Abstract Objective To explore the clinical application effect of the modified midline catheter.Methods A total of 125 patients required infusion of stimulating vascular drugs admitted to Yingtan People′s Hospital from January 2019 to October 2020 were selected retrospectively selected,and divided into four groups in the central venous catheter (PICC)group (25 cases),central venous catheter (CVC) group (25 cases),peripheral indwelling needle (PVC) group (37 cases),and midline catheter (MC) group (38 cases).The MC group had mechanical lebitis,mechanical phlebitis,drug extravasation,catheter-related infections,catheter-related thrombosis,and one-time puncture success rates were compared with the other three groups.Results The overall incidence of complications in the MC group was lower than that in the PICC group,CVC group,and PVC group,with statistically significant difference (P<0.05).The incidence of mechanical phlebitis in the MC group was lower than that in the PICC group and PVC group,and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).The incidence of mechanical phlebitis between the MC group and CVC group with no significant difference (P>0.05).The incidence of drug extravasation in MC group was lower than that in PVC group,and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).The incidence of catheter-associated infection in the MC group was lower than that in the CVC group,and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).The incidence of catheter-associated thrombosis in the MC group was lower than that in the PVC group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The success rate of one-time puncture in the MC group was higher than that in the PICC group,CVC group and PVC group,and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion The modified midline catheter has the advantages of relatively simple operation,small trauma and less complications,and has good clinical application prospects,and is worth clinical promotion and application.
