The clinical efficacy and safety of ultrasound-guided radiofrequency thermocoagulation of the sensory nerve plexus of the knee in osteoarthritis |

Abstract Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of ultrasound-guided radiofrequency thermocoagulation of the sensory nerve plexus of the knee in osteoarthritis.Methods A total of 160 patients with osteoarthritis of the knee who were admitted to the Department of Orthopedics of Ningjin County People′s Hospital from March 2020 to November 2020 were selected as the research subjects,and they were divided into two groups A and B using a random number table method,eighty for each group.Group A received pain point anti-inflammatory analgesic solution and sodium hyaluronate injection in the knee joint cavity,group B received ultrasound-guided radiofrequency thermocoagulation of the sensory nerve plexus of the knee joint on the basis of group A.The visual analog scale (VAS)score,the keen society score (KSS)score and the occurrence of complications during the treatment were compared between the two groups.Results Before treatment,there were no significant differences in VAS score and KSS score between the two groups of patients(P>0.05).The VAS score of group B was lower than those of group A at 1 month and 3 months after treatment,and the KSS scores of 1 week,1 month,and 3 months after treatment were all higher than those of group A,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the total incidence of complications between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Ultrasound-guided radiofrequency thermocoagulation of the sensory nerve plexus of the knee joint assisted in the clinical treatment of osteoarthritis is beneficial to relieve pain,improve joint function,and is safe.
