Exploration and application of PBL online combined with simulated teaching method in critical care medical standardized resident training program during the COVID-19 epidemic |

Abstract Objective To evaluate the application of PBL method online combined with simulation teaching during the COVID-19 epidemic in critical care medical standardized resident training program.Methods A total of 29 residents from Department of Critical Care Medicine of Beijing Friendship Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University from January to October 2020 were retrospectively selected as the experimental group,52 residents in the same hospital from January 2019 to October 2019 were selected as the control group.The experimental group received PBL online combined with simulation teaching while the control group received traditional teaching method.The results of theoretical examination,skill assessment and questionnaire survey of the two groups were compared,and the incidence of adverse events of the two groups was recorded for safety evaluation.Results The experimental group achieved higher score in theoretical examination,skill assessment,and the questionnaire results showed that the experimental group gave higher points in effectiveness of teaching methods,effectiveness of imparting knowledge,residents satisfaction,ability to analyze and explore problems,ability to accept knowledge,the initiative to participate in teaching,and the enthusiasm for learning,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).There were 1 case of clinical adverse events in the experimental group and 3 cases in the control group.There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse events between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion During the COVID-19 epidemic,PBL online combined with simulated teaching can effectively improve the teaching quality in critical care medical standardized resident training program.
