Abstract Objective To explore the effect of conjoint fascia sheath(CFS)suspension and frontalis muscle flap suspension in the surgery of severe ptosis. Methods A total of 78 patients with severe ptosis who were admitted to the Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery Center,Shenyang Fourth People′s Hospital from June 2018 to December 2019 were selected as the research subjects, and were divided into the observation group (39 cases)and the control group (39 cases)by the random number table method. The observation group was treated with CFS suspension combined with levator palpebrae superioris muscle shortening, while the control group was treated with frontalis muscle flap suspension. The patients were followed up for 6 months after surgery, and the cure rate and the incidence of complications were compared between the two groups. Results The surgical cure rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The incidence of surgical complications in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion Compared with frontalis muscle flap suspension,CFS suspension combined with levator palpebrae superioris muscle shortening to correct severe ptosis is a safe and effective operation, with high patient satisfaction and few complications in clinical practice, which is worthy of clinical promotion.
