Abstract Objective To investigate the effect of directional diathermy combined with hot pack in promoting ureteral stone expulsion.Methods A total of 200 patients with ureteral calculi admitted to Nanchang Stone Disease Hospital from January 2019 to January 2020 were selected as the study subjects and divided into the observation group (n=100)and the control group (n=100)according to the random number table.The control group was treated with routine treatment,and directional diathermy combined with hot pack treatment was used on this basis.The clinical efficacy,analgesic drug use rate,stone expulsion rate,stone expulsion time,clinical symptom relief time,and quality of life were compared between the two groups.Results The total effective rate of treatment observation group was higher than that in control group,the difference was statistically significant(P＜0.05).The use rate of analgesic drugs in observation group was lower than that in control group,the stone expulsion rate was higher than that in control group,the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05).The time to discharge stones and the time to relieve low back pain,hematuria,frequent urination and urgency in the observation group were shorter than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05).After 3 months of treatment,the scores of social function,physical function,role function,and emotional function of the two groups were higher than those of this group before treatment,and the observation group was higher than the control group,the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05).Conclusion Directional diathermy combined with hot pack is effective in the treatment of ureteral calculi,which can improve the stone clearance rate,reduce the use of analgesic drugs,shorten the stone expulsion time,clinical symptom relief time and improve the quality of life.
