Abstract Objective To explore the application and effect of Maslow′s theory based intervention on colonoscopy bowel preparation in elderly patients.Methods A total of 140 patients who were admitted to the Department of Gastroenterology,the First Affiliated Hospital of Gannan Medical College for colonoscopy from December 2019 to February 2021 were randomly divided into the observation group (n=70)and the control group (n=70)according to random number table method.The control group received routine bowel preparation scheme,and the observation group received personalized bowel preparation scheme for elderly patients based on Maslow theory.The qualified rate of intestinal preparation,the detection rate of intestinal polyps,the total incidence of adverse reactions and the total satisfaction of the medical experience were compared between the two groups.Results The qualified rate of intestinal preparation in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group,the difference was statistically significant(P＜0.05).The number of intestinal polyps detected in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group,the difference was statistically significant(P＜0.05).The total incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group,the difference was statistically significant(P＜0.05).The satisfaction of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group,the difference was statistically significant (P＜0.05).Conclusion The individualized bowel preparation scheme for elderly patients based on Maslow theory can improve the qualified rate of bowel preparation,the number of intestinal polyps detected,improve life satisfaction and reduce the incidence of adverse reactions,which has good clinical application value.
