| Application of nursing intervention based on INS standards in maintenance of peripheral vein indwelling needle in pediatric respiratory department |

Abstract Objective To explore the application effect of nursing intervention based on the Infusion Therapy Standards of Practice(infusion nurses society[INS]standards,compiled by the INS in 2016)in the maintenance of peripheral venous indwelling needles in pediatric respiratory department.Methods A total of 688 children received indwelling peripheral intravenous needles who were admitted to Zhuhai Maternal and Child Health Hospital were selected as the research subjects.They were grouped according to the time of admission: the children admitted from May to August 2019 were set as the control group(n=342),and routine maintenance and care of peripheral vein indwelling needles were performed;the children admitted from September to November 2019 were set as the observation group(n=346),corresponding intervention was provided with the reference to the standards formulated by the INS after summarizing and analyzing the occurrence and causes of catheter blood return,errhysis,dressings coverslipped or loose,non-standardized fixation of indwelling needle,and phlebitis during the maintenance of intravenous indwelling needles.The indwelling time and the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups were compared.Results The indwelling time of the venous indwelling needle in the observation group was longer than that in the control group,the incidence of blood return,dressings coverslipped or loose,irregular fixation of the indwelling needle,and phlebitis in the observation group were lower than those in the control group,the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of intravenous indwelling needle errhysis between the two groups(P＞0.05).Conclusion The nursing intervention for the maintenance of indwelling needles in children based on INS standards can better reduce the incidence of adverse reactions during the maintenance of indwelling needles in children,increase the safety of indwelling veins,and effectively prolong the indwelling time of indwelling needles.
