Levels changes and correlation analysis of serum ferritin and inflammatory factors in elderly patients with osteoporosis and pathological fracture |

Abstract Objective To analyze the levels changes and correlation of serum ferritin(FERR)and inflammatory factors in elderly patients with osteoporosis and pathological fracture.Methods A total of 81 patients with osteoporosis and pathological fractures admitted to Hangzhou Yuhang Banger Hospital from September 1,2017 to January 31,2021 were selected as the experimental group,and 30 physical examinations in the same period were selected as the control group.The two groups of bone mineral density(BMD),FERR,serum amyloid A(SAA),hypersensitive C-reactive protein(hs-CRP)and interleukin 6(IL-6),immunoglobulin A(IgA),white blood cell count(WBC),neutrophil percentage(Neu%),lymphocyte percentage(Lym%)levels were compared,and Spearman correlation analysis was also performed.Results The BMD and LYM% in the experimental group were lower than those in the control group,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).FERR,SAA,hs-CRP,IL-6,IgA,Neu% in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group,the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).In the experimental group,FERR level was negatively correlated with bone mineral density(r=-0.406, P<0.05),and positively correlated with SAA,hs-CRP,IL-6,IgA and other inflammatory factors(r=0.331,0.385,0.371,0.288; P<0.05).Conclusion The serum FERR level of elderly patients with osteoporosis associated with pathological fracture is positively correlated with the levels of inflammatory factors such as SAA,hs-CRP,IL-6 and IgA(P<0.05),which has certain clinical reference value for the prevention,diagnosis and treatment of this disease.
