Abstract Objective To observe the nursing effect of intestinal creep adhesive on improving gastrointestinal function in patients with long-term bed rest in orthopedics department. Methods From January 2022 to October 2022,80 patients who needed to stay in bed in the Department of Orthopedics, the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University were selected as the research objects. They were divided into the glue patch group and the routine group by random number table method, with 40 cases in each group. The glue patch group was treated with medical glue patch nursing, and the routine group was given routine nursing. The recovery time of gastrointestinal function, occurrence of adverse symptoms, nursing satisfaction and quality of life scores of the two groups were recorded. Results The first defecation time and defecation interval time of the glue patch group were shorter than those of the conventional group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no statistically significant difference in the total incidence of adverse symptoms between the two groups(P>0.05).The scores of nursing satisfaction and generic quality of life inventory-74 (GQOL-74) in the adhesive patch group were higher than those in the conventional group, and the scores of self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) and self-rating depression scale(SDS)in the adhesive patch group were lower than those in the conventional group, and the differences were statistically significant (P <0.05).Conclusion Intestinal creep medical adhesive can shorten the recovery time of gastrointestinal function in long-term bedridden patients in orthopedics department, reduce the incidence of adverse symptoms, improve patients'nursing satisfaction and quality of life, and improve their psychological status.
