Abstract  Objective To explore the effect of Probiotic assisted Minocycline Hydrochloride on moderate chronic periodontitis. Methods A total of 90 patients with moderate chronic periodontitis admitted to Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital of Ganzhou City from April 2021 to March 2022 were selected as the research objects and divided into control group and observation group according to the random number table method, with 45 cases in each group. The control group were treated with Minocycline Hydrochloride, the observation group were treated with Probiotic assisted Minocycline Hydrochloride. The clinical treatment effect, oral health (scores of oral health assessment tool [OHAT],clinical attachment loss [CAL], gingival index [GI], probing depth [PD], plaque index [PLI], sulcus bleeding index[SBI])and local inflammatory reaction indexes (gingival crevicular fluid tumor necrosis factor-α [TNF-α], interleukin-6 [IL-6]and interleukin-8 [IL-8]) before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). There was no significant difference in OHAT score between the two groups before treatment (P>0.05). The OHAT score of the observation group after treatment was lower than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference in CAL, GI, PD, PLI and SBI between the two groups (P>0.05). After treatment, CAL, GI, PD, PLI and SBI in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no significant difference in gingival crevicular fluid inflammation index between the two groups (P>0.05). After treatment, the levels of TNF-α, IL-6 and IL-8 in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion The application effect of Probiotic assisted Minocycline Hydrochloride in patients with chronic periodontitis is better, and it can significantly improve the oral health and local inflammatory reaction, so its application value in the patients with chronic periodontitis is higher.
