Innovation and exploration of pharmaceutical English teaching by integrating the English version of Chinese Pharmacopoeia with the textbook content in traditional Chinese medicine universities |

Abstract Pharmaceutical English is a new pharmacy course which set up in the universities of traditional Chinese medicine in recent years. Due to the wide content of its corresponding subjects as well as the lack of standardized teaching material, the majority teaching work of pharmaceutical English is still in a spontaneous and disorderly state. In the course of lesson preparation and delivering, the scientific curriculum design and reasonable arrangement of content are the biggest challenges to the teaching of pharmaceutical English. Under the guidance of traditional Chinese medicine theory, our course group tries to integrate the English version of Chinese Pharmacopoeia into the pharmaceutical English teaching for the first time, and the featured contents of preface, Chinese crud drugs, oil, fats and extractives as well as traditional Chinese patent medicines were explained in detail, respectively. The results indicated that the newly content could fully reflect the cultural characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine as well as cover the knowledge system of the science of Chinese materia medica, and also owned the features of strong professionalism, authority and innovation. Our study aiming to provide the scientific basis and theoretical reference for the better development of pharmaceutical English teaching in the field of traditional Chinese medicine.
