Abstract Objective To discuss the clinical effect of fundus laser therapy and calcium dobesilate capsules in diabetic retinopathy (DR). Methods A total of 121 DR patients (154 affected eyes) treated from December 2015 to December 2020 in Sinqi Orhthalmology Hospital and The Fourth People′s Hospital of Shenyang were selected as research objects.According to random permutation method, patients were assigned to control group (60 patients,77 affected eyes)and experimental group(61 patients,77 affected eyes). The control group took the fundus laser therapy, the experimental group took the fundus laser therapy and calcium dobesilate capsules. Visual acuity, macular thickness, blood spot area, fundus microcirculation indicators and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results The visual acuity, macular thickness and blood spot area between groups showed no statistically significant differences (P>0.05). After treatment, the visual acuity in the experimental group was higher than those in the control group, the macular thickness and blood spot area in the experimental group were smaller than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Before treatment, there were no significant between-group differences in the peak systolic velocity (PSV), end-diastolic velocity (EDV) and resistance index (RI) in the central retinal artery (CRA) and posterior ciliary artery (PCA) (P>0.05). After treatment, the blood velocity in the experimental group was higher than that in the control group, RI values in the experimental group were smaller than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The total adverse drug reactions between groups showed no statistically significant difference (P>0.05). Conclusion Calcium dobesilate capsules and fundus laser therapy can shrink the blood spot area, and improve the visual acuity, fundus microcirculation indicators, and treatment safety.
