Effect of intraoperative saline irrigation incision on preventing fat liquefaction

Abstract  Objective To observe the effect of intraoperative saline irrigation incision to prevent fat liquefaction and infection in abdominal obese patients. Methods A total of 498 patients with abdominal obesity who needed abdominal surgery in Liaoyang Central Hospital from January 2016 to December 2018 were selected, and they were randomly divided into the saline washing group (248 cases) and the routine treatment group (250 cases) according to the order of treatment. In the saline washing group, after suturing the abdominal wall, the incision was rinsed with saline to remove the fat debris until it was clean, then sutured after sterile gauze suctioned cleanly saline. In the routine treatment group, routine suture was performed. The wound healing grade and cycle, fat liquefaction rate and infection rate in the two group after operation were observed. Results The grade of wound healing in the saline washing group was better than that in the routine treatment group, there was significant difference (P＜0.05). The wound healing cycle of the saline washing group was shorter than that of the routine treatment group, and the fat liquefaction rate and infection rate of the saline washing group were lower than those of the routine treatment group, there were significant differences(P＜0.05). Conclusion Intraoperative saline washing can promote incision healing and shorten the incision healing period in abdominal obese patients, reducing incision fat liquefaction rate and infection rate.
