| Effect and safety of Fuzheng Xiaoji Recipe combined with FOLFIRI chemotherapy in the treatment of advanced rectal cancer |

Abstract Objective To investigate the effect of Fuzheng Xiaoji Recipe combined with FOLFIRI chemotherapy in the treatment of advanced rectal cancer. Methods From April 2016 to April 2019, 40 patients with advanced rectal cancer were selected. The patients were randomly divided into control group (20 cases) and study group (20 cases) according to the odd and even number of the patient′s hospitalization number. The study group accepted Fuzheng Xiaoji Recipe combined with FOLFIRI chemotherapy regimen while the control group accepted FOLFIRI only. Clinical treatment effects, quality of life, and adverse drug reactions of the patients within 1 month after 3 cycles of treatment in two groups were evaluated as clinical outcome measures. Results The total effective rate and disease control rate of the study group after treatment were higher than those of the control group, and the total incidence of adverse drug reactions was lower than that of the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P＜0.05); after treatment, the effective rate of improvement of the quality of life of the study group was higher than that of the control group group, the difference was statistically significant (P＜0.05). Conclusion Fuzheng Xiaoji Recipe combined with FOLFIRI chemotherapy can significantly alleviate the condition of patients with advanced rectal cancer, improve patient survival rate and quality of life, and reduce toxic and side effect.
