Study on effect of PFNA internal fixation on functional recovery after internal fixation of femoral intertrochanteric fractures in elderly |

Abstract Objective To investigate the clinical effect of proximal femoral nail anti-rotation (PFNA) in the treatment of intertrochanteric fractures of the elderly. Methods A retrospective selection of 60 elderly patients with intertrochanteric fractures admitted to our hospital from July 2018 to December 2019 was made. According to the different research methods, they were divided into control group and study group, with 30 cases in each group. The control group was treated with locking compression plate (LCP), the study group was treated with PFNA internal fixation. The operation time, hospitalization time, clinical fracture healing time, intraoperative blood loss, Harris hip function, visual analogue scale (VAS) score and complications were observed in the two groups. Results The operation time, hospitalization time and clinical fracture healing time of the study group were shorter than those in the control group, and the amount of intraoperative blood loss was less than that in the control group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). At 2 weeks and 1 month after surgery, the Harris hip function score of the study group was higher than that of the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05); the postoperative VAS score in the study group was lower than that in the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). There was no complication in the study group, and the total complication rate in the control group was 6.67%, there was no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion PFNA internal fixation has a significant clinical effect in the treatment of femoral intertrochanteric fractures in the elderly, which can promote postoperative functional recovery, relieve pain, prevent complications, and have high clinical application value.
