Abstract:Objective To understand the epidemiological characteristic of hand-foot-and-mouth disease (HFMD)in Zhuhai and to provide scientific evidence for prevention and control strategies. Methods Based on the incidence of HFMD in 2013-2017 in Zhuhai, its epidemiological characteristic and pathogenic monitoring were analyzed.ResultsA total of 69 656 cases of HFMD were reported in 2013-2017 in Zhuhai, and the annual average incidence rate was 860.3/100 000,of which the incidence rate(984.2/100 000)in males was significantly higher than that in females(726.1/100 000),and the ratio of males to females was 1.4∶1(P<0.05).The incidence of children in 0-4 years old was significantly higher than that in other age groups(P<0.05),the incidence ratio of the groups at 0-4 years old,>4-9 years old and >9 years old were 87.0%,11.0%and 2.0%,respectively.Different professional distribution of scattered children in five years the proportion(69.5%)was significantly higher than that of children at kindergartens(26.0%),students(3.8%),and others(0.8%),showed that occur among mainly scattered children (P<0.05).In 2013-2017,the annual incidence rate of HFMD in Zhuhai decreased year by year(P<0.05),which was 852.8/100 000,942.1/100 000,900.3/100 000,747.0/100 000 and 861.7/100 000,respectively,and the annual incidence peak appeared from May to July. The average incidence of five years in Xiangzhou district was significantly higher than that of Doumen and Jinwan districts(P<0.05),their average incidence was 934.0/100 000,756.7/100 000 and 764.0/100,000,respectively.The result from pathogenic monitoring showed that the enterovirus EV71 and Cox A16 infections accounted for 33.4%and 21.6%respectively.Conclusion The incidence of HFMD in Zhuhai shows obvious characteristics of season, age and region, therefore, prevention propaganda work should be carried out according to seasonal change and climate characteristics, and more attentions should be paid to the preventive health care on children under 6 years old at communities and kindergartens.
