Design and application of diversified pediatric nursing teaching integrated with traditional Chinese medicine ideological and political elements

Objective To explore the practical effects of incorporating diverse teaching methods with elements of traditional Chinese medicine ideology into pediatric nursing courses at higher-level traditional Chinese medicine institutions.Methods A total of 429 students from Anhui University of Chinese Medicine in 2019 were selected as the study group,and 432 students from Anhui University of Chinese Medicine in 2018 were selected as the control group.The control group adopted the conventional classroom teaching method in pediatric nursing teaching,while the research group combined the characteristics of the discipline,the characteristics of nursing students and the characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine culture in pediatric nursing teaching,and adopted the diversified teaching method integrating traditional Chinese medicine thinking and politics.The teaching feedback of the two groups was compared.Results Following the integration of elements of traditional Chinese medicine ideology into the diversified teaching of the pediatric nursing course,97.4%of students reported a noticeable increase in the teacher's affinity,positive guidance,and the atmosphere of traditional Chinese medicine culture.Additionally,99.3%of students considered gaining knowledge and skills in both traditional Chinese and Western medicine as the most satisfying aspect.Moreover,97.2%of students actively utilized resources to complete educational tasks.Students generally believed that their abilities for independent learning,interest in professional courses and traditional Chinese medicine,as well as their career beliefs and planning,showed significant improvement compared to the control group,with statistically significant differences (P<0.05).Teachers expressed that the teaching had more distinctive features of traditional Chinese medicine and was beneficial for nursing undergraduates to adapt to the clinical demands and professional values of both traditional Chinese and Western medicine.Conclusion Incorporating diverse teaching methods with elements of traditional Chinese medicine ideology into pediatric nursing courses can effectively enhance the efficiency of learning traditional Chinese medicine and professional knowledge.It also guides students in understanding the status of nursing as a profession,its societal value,and the role of traditional Chinese medicine in health maintenance.This approach contributes to the stability of the nursing workforce and the overall improvement of their comprehensive qualities.
