With the increasing aging of the population, the number of elderly patients in clinical work is increasing. How to protect the health and rights of the elderly is an urgent problem in clinical work.In clinical diagnosis and treatment,in the face of elderly patients,it is an extremely complicated process to inform anesthesia methods and risks, master communication skills, strengthen humanistic care, extend the time of anesthesia talks, and increase the number of anesthesia talks. When the elderly patient has decision-making ability, the patient and the family do not agree, the anesthesiologist should respect the patient's own will. However, when the patient does not have the ability to make independent decisions, the patient's family members or their agents need to exercise their informed consent on behalf of the patient, following the principle of maximizing the interests of the patient and minimizing the risks.Informed consent is an ongoing process, not a single event, and may require repeated discussions and confirmations, and records at each stage to achieve true informed consent, thereby protecting the rights and interests of elderly patients.
