Clinical observation of the effect of root canal filling combined with traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of periodontal and pulp lesions

Abstract：Objective To investigate the clinical effect of root canal filling combined with traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of periodontal and pulp lesions.Methods A total of 90 patients with combined periodontal and pulp lesions admitted to Xinyu Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from April 2021 to July 2022 were selected as the study objects,and they were divided into control group (45 cases) and observation group (45 cases) according to random number table method.The control group was treated with root canal filling,and the observation group was treated with root canal filling combined with Chinese medicine.The therapeutic effect,pain degree,inflammatory factor level and periodontal clinical indexes were compared between the two groups.Results The total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group,the difference was statistically significant (P ＜0.05).Visual analogue scale (VAS) score,interleukin-1β (IL-1β),interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) levels in observation group were lower than those in control group at 3 months after treatment,with statistical significances(P＜0.05).The plaque index(PLI)and gingival index(GI)scores of the observation group were lower than those of the control group at 6 months after treatment,and the differences were statistically significant (P＜0.05).Conclusion The effect of root canal filling combined with traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of periodontal and pulp lesions is better,which can reduce the degree of pain,reduce the level of inflammatory factors and improve the periodontal condition.
