Abstract:Objective To observe sterilization effect of volatile oils from four kinds of Xinyang genuine Chinese herbs(GCH)such as Agastache rugosa(Fisch.et Mey.)O.Ktze(A. rugosa),Atractylodes lancea(Thunb.)DC(A. lancea),Chrysanthemum indicum L(C. indicum L.)and Ranunculus ternatus Thunb.(R. ternatus). Methods Suspension quantitative germicidal test was used to observe sterilization effect of the single volatile oil and compound volatile oils from GCH such as Agastache rugosa (Fisch.et Mey.) O.Ktze (A. rugosa), Atractylodes lancea (Thunb.) DC (A. lancea), Chrysanthemum indicum L (C. indicum L.)and Ranunculus ternatus Thunb.(R. ternatus). Results The killing rates of Staphylococcus aureus,Escherichia coli,Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Candida albicans exposed to solution containing ≥2.0%A. rugosa or C. indicum L.volatile oil for 10 minutes were >99.9%.The killing rates of four kinds of test bacteria exposed to solution containing≥1.0% A. rugosa and C. indicum L.compound volatile oils for 10 minutes were >99.9%.Conclusion The volatile oils of four GCH from Xinyang such as A. rugosa, A.lancea,C. indicum L.,R. ternatus have good sterilization effect against bacteria and fungi. While reducing the amount of volatile oil, A. rugosa and C. indicum L.compound volatile oils have a synergistic efficacy, which greatly improves the broad-spectrum bactericidal activity with good sterilization effect for popularization. But the sterilization effect of volatile oils from different GCH on different test bacteria were different.
