Objective To explore the effect of the"Internet+"health education model in obese patients with diabetes mellitus after weight loss. Methods A total of seventy obese patients with diabetes admitted to Department of General Surgery, the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University from January 2022 to June 2023 were retrospectively selected as the study objects. All patients underwent sleeve gastrectomy. The patients were divided into the control group (35 cases) and the experimental group (35 cases) according to the order of discharge time. The control group adopted the routine follow-up mode, and the experimental group adopted the follow-up mode of"Internet+"health education mode. The body mass index(BMI),glucose metabolism related indicators[glycated hemoglobin(HbA1c),insulin resistance index(HOMA-IR)],scores of Dutch eating behavior scale(DEBQ),and quality of life scale(SF-36)scores between two groups of patients at admission and 3 months after discharge were collected and compared. Results The BMI and scores of DEBQ in the experimental group at 3 months after surgery were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).The score of SF-36 at 3 months after surgery in the experimental group was higher than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).There were no significant differences in glycosylated hemoglobin and insulin resistance index between the two groups at three months after surgery(P>0.05).The glycosylated hemoglobin and insulin resistance index of the two groups three months after surgery were lower than those of the same group before surgery, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The"Internet+"health education model can improve postoperative weight loss indicators, healthy eating behaviors and quality of life in obese patients with diabetes, but the impact on glucose metabolism indicators remains to be studied.
