Abstract: Objective To study the effect of extended care on compliance of antiviral medication and family support in elderly patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).Methods Eighty elderly AIDS patients admitted to Jiangxi Chest Hospital from June 2018 to July 2019 were selected,and they were divided into control group and test group by random number table method,40 cases in each group.The control group received routine care and the test group used extension nursing,the medication compliance,quality of life and family support of patients of the two groups at 6 months after nursing were compared.Results There were no statistically significant differences in the compliance score and social support score between two groups before nursing (P>0.05);the compliance score was (7.05±0.41) points and social support score was (23.12±3.58) points in the test group,which were high after nursing than those in the control group of (5.96±0.74) and (14.61±3.29) points,the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).The quality of life score comparison between the groups before nursing,the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05);nursing the post-test group′s physiological function,physical pain,physiological function,vitality,general health status,emotional function,social function and mental health scores were higher than those of the control group,the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion The implementation of extended care for elderly AIDS patients can effectively improve their compliance with antiviral medication and social support level,and improve the quality of life.
