Effectiveness analysis of PDCA cycle management model on the improvement of quality of work of pharmacy intravenous admixture services

Abstract: Objective To analyze the effect of PDCA circulation management mode on improving the quality of work of pharmacy intravenous admixture services (PIVAS).Methods The management implemented by PIVAS in Luoyang Orthopedic-Traumatological Hospital of Henan Province from January to December 2018 was set as the control group,the management implemented from January to December 2019 was set as the observation group.The conventional management mode was assigned to the control group,and the observation group implemented the PDCA cycle management model.The drug dispensing speed,the rate of drug dispensing error and the rate of drug loss were compared between the two groups.Results The dispensing speed of the observation group was(1.42±0.17)bags per minute,which was higher than that of the control group ([1.19±0.21]bags per minute).The dispensing error rate of the observation group was 0.018%,which was lower than that of the control group of 0.048%,the difference was statistically significant (χ2=132.0,P<0.05).The drug loss rate of the observation group was 0.006%,which was lower than that of the control group of 0.013%,the difference was statistically significant (χ2=25.6,P<0.05).Conclusion By analyzing and summarizing a series of reasons for the low quality of PIVAS,using PDCA circulation management mode and taking targeted measures and continuous improvement,the speed of PIVAS configuration in Luoyang Orthopedic-Traumatological Hospital of He′nan Province has been significantly accelerated,the drug dispensing error rate and drug consumption rate have also been greatly reduced,and the work quality of PIVAS has been greatly improved.
