Abstract:Objective To explore the application effect of problem-based learning (PBL) method combined with doctorpatient communication skills evaluation scale (SEGUE) on improving the doctor-patient communication ability of orthopaedic regular training physicians. Methods From January 2020 to September 2021, 54 regular training physicians rotating in the Department of Orthopedics of Shaanxi Provincial People′s Hospital were selected as the research objects. They were divided into experimental group (27 cases) and control group (27 cases) by random draw method. The doctors in the experimental group used PBL method combined with SEGUE framework, and the doctors in the control group used traditional teaching method. The evaluation of doctor-patient communication ability of regular training physicians between the two groups′ patients at admission and exit of the department was compared. The doctor-patient communication ability self-evaluation score and SEGUE score were compared between the two groups at admission and exit of the department. Results At the time of admission, there were no significant differences in the excellent and good rate and qualified rate of the evaluation of doctor-patient communication ability between the two groups (P>0.05).There were no significant differences in self-evaluation score and SEGUE score of doctor-patient communication ability between the two groups (P>0.05). When leaving the department, the excellent and good rate of patients in the experimental group was higher than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). When leaving the department, the excellent and good rate and qualified rate of the evaluation of doctor-patient communication ability of patients in the two groups were higher than those when entering the department, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The self-evaluation score and SEGUE score of the regular training physicians in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). When leaving the department, the self-evaluation score and SEGUE score of the two groups of regular training physicians were higher than those when entering the department, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion PBL method combined with SEGUE framework can significantly improve the doctor-patient communication ability of orthopaedic regular training doctors. It was recommended PBL method combined with SEGUE framework should be widely used in the clinical teaching and learning of orthopaedic regular training physicians, and the cultivation of doctor-patient communication ability should run through the whole process of medical education.
