Relationship between the typical clinical features of polycystic ovary syndrome and self-esteem and body image satisfaction

Abstract:Objective To analyze the influencing factors of self-esteem and body image satisfaction in polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Methods A total of 290 female patients with PCOS in the People′s Hospital of Liaoning Province from October 2020 to December 2021 were selected as research objects, analyze the influencing factors of patients′self-esteem and body image satisfaction. Results The univariate analysis showed that there were significant differences in polyhairy, acne, pregnancy, BMI in self-esteem and body image (P<0.01). The results of the multiple linear regression analysis showed that, polyhairy (β=-0.12, P<0.01), acne (β=-0.37, P<0.01), reproductive situation (β=0.29, P<0.01), and BMI (β=-0.16, P<0.01) were factors affecting low self-esteem in women with PCOS. Acne (β=0.40, P<0.01),reproductive situation (β=-0.26, P<0.01), and BMI (β=0.17, P<0.01) were factors influencing body image in women with polycystic ovary syndrome. Conclusion Through this study, medical staff can fully understand the related factors of low self-esteem and poor body image satisfaction of women with polycystic ovary syndrome, and help patients improve their weight, menstrual disorders, hairy and infertility symptoms. It provides a diversified method to improve the clinical practice effect and the management of women with polycystic ovary syndrome.
