Application effect of new desensitization reagent fixation device in patients with dentin hypersensitivity after radiotherapy for locally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma

Objective To investigate the application effect of new desensitization reagent fixation device in patients with dentine hypersensitivity after radiotherapy for locally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Methods A total of 40 patients with dentin hypersensitivity after locally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma radiotherapy (with 167 affected teeth) admitted to Affiliated Cancer Hospital & Institute of Guangzhou Medical University from June 2019 to June 2021 were selected as research objects, they were divided into research group and control group according to computer randomization method.The patients in the control group were treated with Gluma desensitization agent in the oral room and assisted with family routine treatment of oral desensitization paste.The patients in the research group were treated with Gluma desensitization agent in the oral clinic with a new desensitization reagent fixation device combined with the oral desensitization paste.Dental sensitivity of the two groups before and after 4 weeks and the dental essence desensitization treatment efficiency were compared by visual analogue scale (VAS). Results There was no significant difference in VAS value of dental sensitivity between the two groups (P>0.05).The VAS value of dental sensitivity in the research group after 4 weeks was higher than that of the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).The dental essence desensitization treatment efficiency of research group after 4 weeks was higher than that of the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion For patients with dentin hypersensitivity after locally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma radiotherapy, new desensitization reagent fixation device can effectively improve the desensitization treatment effect and obtain good early effect, which has clinical application value.
