Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of Orem self-care mode on self-care ability and the incidence of hypoglycemia in senile patients with diabetes. Methods 60 senile patients with diabetes who were admitted to our hospital from January 2018 to January 2020 were selected as the research subjects. All selected cases were divided into control group (n=30) and research group (n=30) according to random number table method. The control group was given routine nursing intervention, and research group was given Orem self-care mode intervention on the basis of control group. The self-care ability, awareness rate of disease-related knowledge (drug knowledge, dietary principle, complications), hypoglycemia and health behavior (medication compliance, moderate exercise and blood glucose control) were compared between the two groups. Results The score of self-care ability in the research group was higher than that in the control group after intervention (P<0.05). The awareness rate of disease-related knowledge in the research group was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). The incidence of hypoglycemia in the research group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05). The medication compliance, moderate exercise and blood glucose control in the research group were better than those in the control group after intervention, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion Orem self-care mode intervention in senile patients with diabetes can increase self-care ability and cognitive ability of disease-related knowledge, reduce the incidence of hypoglycemia, encourage patients to choose healthier behaviors and promote rehabilitation, which is an effective nursing mode and worthy of clinical promotion.
