Abstract:Objective To understand the occurrence status and risk factors of indwelling needle phlebitis in patients of oncology department. Methods A total of 361 cases of cancer patients in our hospital from August to December 2019 were selected by convenient sampling, and the self-made questionnaire on the occurrence and influence of indwelling needle phlebitis was used for investigation. Results Altogether 39.1% patients had phlebitis. Single factor analysis showed that there were significant differences in the incidence rates of phlebitis among patients with different retention time, puncture site, chemotherapy drugs, high osmotic pressure drugs, strong acid and strong alkali drugs, types of flushing and sealing fluid, and administration frequency (P<0.05). Multivariate analysis showed that the long duration of indwelling, location of puncture was forearm, use of hypertonic drugs and frequency of drug administration were risk factors of the incidence of phlebitis, and the use of chemotherapeutics was a protective factor for the occurrence of phlebitis caused by indwelling needle in patients with oncology department (P<0.05). Conclusion The incidence of phlebitis is relatively high in the use of indwelling needle in oncology department, which is related to the factors such as long indwelling time, hypertonic and osmotic drugs and multi frequency infusion.
