Abstract:Objective To compare the clinical effecy of polyvinyl alcohol foam embolization microparticles and polyvinyl alcohol embolization microspheres in interventional embolization therapy for patients with massive hemoptysis. Methods A total of 86 patients with massive hemoptysis in our hospital who failed in the conservative treatment of internal medicine and needed to be treated by interventional embolization from August 2017 to February 2019 were selected as the research objects and divided into the study group and the control group by random number table method, with 43 cases in each group. The study group used polyvinyl alcohol embolization microspheres for interventional embolization, and the control group used polyvinyl alcohol foam embolization particles for interventional embolization. The short-term, midterm and long-term effect and complications of the two groups after surgery were compared. Results There were no significant differences in the total effective rate at 7 d after surgery, the success rate of hemoptysis control, and the incidence of complications at 1 and 12 months after surgery (P>0.05). Conclusion Compared with polyvinyl alcohol foam embolization microparticles, polyvinyl alcohol embolization microspheres have the same clinical effect and high safety in interventional embolization for massive hemoptysis, which is worthy of clinical promotion and application.
