Abstract:Objective To investigate the application effect of improved throat swab collection in the diagnosis of patients with novel coronavirus pneumonia. Methods A total of 218 patients with mild and common type of novel coronavirus pneumonia in Huoshenshan Hospital of Wuhan City from February 9 to April 4,2020 were randomly divided into two groups by flipping a coin. Those with flowers on the front were the improved group (122 cases),and the reverse side was the control group (96 cases). The improved pharyngeal swab was collected in the improved group, while the traditional method was used in the control group. The novel coronavirus nucleic acid positive rate was detected and analyzed by real-time fluorescence RT-PCR.Results In the improved group,28 cases were positive in nucleic acid detection,8 cases were suspicious, the total positive rate of nucleic acid detection was 29.5%.In the control group,15 cases were positive in nucleic acid detection,1 cases were suspicious, the total positive rate of nucleic acid detection was 16.7%.The total positive rate of nucleic acid detection in the improved group was higher than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion The positive rate of nucleic acid detection use the improved method is higher than that use the traditional method. It has highly maneuverable and well patient tolerated. It can provide the basis for early detection, diagnosis and treatment of novel coronavirus pneumonia.
