Abstract:Objective To establish and verify a scoring scale for predicting the prognosis of patients with atypical meningioma based on peripheral blood indicators. Methods A total of 131 patients with atypical meningioma admitted to Guangdong 999 Brain Hospital from January 2010 and June 2017 were enrolled in this retrospective study.Tumor relapse was observed by magnetic resonance imaging and patients were then classified into recurrence group and nonrecurrence group. There were 39 patients in recurrence group and 92 patients in non-recurrence group. The clinical, laboratory indicators, imaging manifestations and other relevant data were collected to analyze their relationship with tumor recurrence. Results The good performance of the fibrinogen and neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (FIB-NLR) scoring scale for predicting 3-year progression-free survival (PFS) was showed (the area under curve=0.836).Multivariate Cox analysis revealed that FIB-NLR scoring scale (1 point: HR=4.90,95%CI=1.58-15.17,P=0.006;2 points: HR=18.01,95%CI=5.75-56.42,P<0.001) remained independently related to 3-year PFS postoperatively. Conclusion Preoperative FIB-NLR scoring scale could predict prognosis of patients with atypical meningioma, providing a new tool for assisting clinical diagnosis and treatment
