Abstract:Objective To investigate the therapeutic value of intestinal probiotics in patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD) with respiratory failure. Methods From May to October 201960 AECOPD patients with respiratory failure in Canmei Hospital of Kunming First People′s Hospital were selected.According to random number table methodthey were divided into control group and treatment group30 cases in each group. The control group was treated with routine treatmentand the treatment group was treated with routine treatment and intestinal live bacteria preparation. After 2 weeks of treatmentthe differences in inflammatory index and nutritional status before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results There were no significant differences in white blood cells (WBC)neutrophil ratio (N%) and C-reactive protein (CRP) between the treatment group and the control group before treatment (P>0.05).The WBC after treatment in the treatment group was lower than that in the control group (P<0.05)but there were no significant differences in N%CRP between the two groups after treatment (P>0.05).The WBCN%CRP after treatment of the two groups were lower than before treatmentand the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).There were no significant differences in serum albumin (ALB) and prealbumin (PA) between two groups before treatment (P>0.05).The serum ALB and PA after treatment in the treatment group were higher than those before treatment (P<0.05),the ALB after treatment in the control group was lower than that before treatmentand the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05)while the difference in the PA between after treatment and before treatment was not statistically significant (P>0.05).Conclusion The use of intestinal live bacterial preparations in patients with AECOPD with respiratory failure can reduce inflammation and improve nutritional statusthereby improving prognosis.
