Abstract:Objective To explore the application effect of oral care with traditional Chinese medicine combined with pat back along meridians in stroke patients. Methods A total of 96 patients with stroke admitted to Department of Neurology in Wuxi Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from January 2018 to July 2020 were selected as the study subjects, and they were divided into the control group and the observation group according to random number table method, with 48 patients in each group. The control group received routine oral care, and the observation group received oral care with traditional Chinese medicine combined with pat back along meridians intervention, continuous intervention for seven days. The intervention effect, the incidence of stroke associated pneumonia (SAP), and oral bacteria count, halitosis before and after intervention were compared between the two groups. Results The total intervention effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). The incidence of SAP in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). After intervention, the oral bacterial count and halitosis score of the two groups were lower than those before intervention, and the oral bacterial count and halitosis score of the observation group were lower than those of the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion Oral care with traditional Chinese medicine combined with pat back along meridians can effectively improve the therapeutic effect, reduce the incidence of SAP and the number of oral bacteria, and improve halitosis.
