Abstract: Objective To explore the differences of T cell subsets in pulmonary tuberculosis patients during active and quiescent stages. Methods A total of 33 pulmonary tuberculosis patients in active stages admitted to Yingtan City People′s Hospital from January 2019 to March 2021 were retrospectively selected as the active group, while 33 patients with pulmonary tuberculosis in quiescent stages in the same period were selected as the quiescent group. The levels of CD3+, CD4+, CD8+ and CD4+/CD8+ T cell subsets in all objects were detected by flow cytometry. The value of the CD3+, CD4+, CD8+ and CD4+/CD8+ T cell subsets and combined detection in the differential diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis in active and quiescent stages were analyzed by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves. Results The levels of CD3+, CD4+ and CD4+/CD8+ T cell subsets in the active group were lower than those in the quiescent group, while the level of CD8+ T cell subsets in the active group was higher than that in quiescent group, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The results of ROC curve analysis showed that the area under curve (AUC) values under the ROC curve of CD3+, CD4+, CD8+, CD4+/CD8+ T cell subsets and combined detection in the differential diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis in active and quiescent stages were 0.592, 0.632, 0.657, 0.816 and 0.897, respectively. Conclusion The immune function is declined in pulmonary tuberculosis patients in active stages. In clinical practice, peripheral blood T lymphocyte subsets can be applied in the differential diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis in active and quiescent stages.
