Objective To investigate the correlation between fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) and interleukin-17(IL-17) and lung function in patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD).Methods A total of 80 patients with AECOPD admitted to Pingxiang People's Hospital from September 2020 to March 2021 were selected as the case group, and 60 healthy patients in the same period were selected as the control group. The levels of FeNO, IL-17 and lung function were measured in patients with AECOPD during the exacerbation period and the stable period, as well as in the control group. The correlation between FeNO, IL-17 and lung function (the first second forced expiratory volume [FEV1], the ratio of FEV1 to forced vital capacity [FVC] [FEV1/FVC]) was analyzed. Results The levels of FeNO and IL-17 in the COPD patients in the two periods were higher than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). The levels of lung function (FEV1, FEV1/FVC) in the COPD patients in the two periods were lower than those in the control group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05). There was no correlation between FeNO and IL-17, FEV1, FEV1/FVC in AECOPD patients (P>0.05).There was a positive correlation between FeNO and IL-17 (r=0.236, P<0.05), and a negative correlation with lung function (FEV1, FEV1/FVC) (r=-0.178, -0.316, P<0.05). Conclusion FeNO has a certain correlation with IL-17 and FEV1,FEV1/FVC, and it can be used as an effective index for the evaluation of COPD.
