Abstract: Chronic cough mostly belongs to "long cough" and "intractable cough" in traditional Chinese medicine.Professor Chen Zhi-bin believes that this kind of cough has a long course and often recurs. The pathogenesis is mostly deficient in root and excess in branch, to be specific, the deficiency of lung, spleen and kidney is the root, and the wind and phlegm-rheum is the branch. It can be divided into spasms due to excessive wind pattern, pathogenic wind attacking orifices pattern, turbid phlegm obstructing the lung pattern, phlegm-heat congesting the lung pattern, and liver fire invading the lung pattern. Patterns of wind-heat invading the lung and fluid damage due to lung heat are common, for this condition, professor Chen Zhi-bin created Keping Decoction to diffuse the lung, dispel wind, benefit throat and nourish fluid, which has a remarkable clinical effect.
