Abstract:Objective To compare the application effect of external fixator and plaster fixation in patients with elbow joint stiffness releasing surgery. Methods A total of 40 cases of elbow joint stiffness admitted to our hospital from April 2018 to April 2019 were selected as research objects. According to the random number table method, they were divided into external fixator group (n=20) and plaster fixation group (n=20), both groups were treated with the same surgical releasing method. The Amadio score, range of elbow joint motion, Mayo score, clinical treatment satisfaction, and recurrence of the two groups of patients were observed before surgery and 1 month after surgery. Results The Amadio score, range of elbow joint motion and Mayo score of patients between the two groups before surgery and 1 month after surgery had no significant differences (P>0.05). The Amadio score, range of elbow joint motion and Mayo score of 1 month after surgery were higher than those of this group before surgery, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05); and the clinical treatment total satisfaction of the external fixator group was higher than that in the plaster fixation group, and the recurrence rate was lower than that in the plaster fixation group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05). Conclusion Compared with plaster fixation, the external fixator has a better application effect after elbow joint stiffness releasing surgery. It can not only improve the Amadio score, range of elbow joint motion, and the Mayo score, but also increase the satisfaction of clinical treatment and reduce the recurrence rate.
