Abstract:Objective To investigate the curative effect of closed reduction and intramedullary nail internal fixation in elderly patients with humeral shaft fracture. Methods A total of 80 elderly patients with humeral shaft fracture admitted to Mudanjiang Forestry Central Hospital from September 2018 to August 2019 were selected as the study subjects. The patients were divided into the open group (40 cases) and the closed group (40 cases) according to the random number table method. In the open group, open reduction and internal fixation with plate and screw were performed. In the closed group, closed reduction and internal fixation with intramedullary nail were performed.Intraoperative blood loss, operative time, hospital stay, humeral shaft fracture healing time, elbow joint functional recovery and complication rate were compared between the two groups. Results The intraoperative blood loss of patients in the closed group was less than that in the open group, the operative time and hospital stay were shorter than those in the open group, the excellent and good rate of elbow joint function score was higher than that in the open group, and the total incidence of complications was lower than that in the open group, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).There was no significant difference in fracture healing time between the two groups (P>0.05).Conclusion Closed reduction and internal fixation with intramedullary nail can effectively improve the treatment of humeral shaft fracture in the elderly.
