Abstract:Objective To analyze the risk factors of falls in the elderly people in nursing institutions.Methods The data of 197 elderly people in a institutions home from August 2018 to November 2019 were analyzed retrospectively.The Chinese version of Morse fall risk assessment scale was used to assess the fall risk of the elderly.According to the scores,the participants were divided into the low and moderate risk group (64 cases) and the high risk group (133 cases).The data of demographic sociology and physical condition of the two groups were compared,and the related risk factors were analyzed.Results The proportion of women,advanced age,poor visual acuity,chronic diseases,long-term medication,poor balance function,and the incidence of falls in the past three months in the high-risk group were higher than those in the low-risk and medium-risk group,the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).Women,advanced age,poor visual acuity,chronic diseases,long-term medication,poor balance function,and fall history in the past three months were independent risk factors for falls in the elderly (P<0.05).Conclusion Women,advanced age,poor visual acuity,chronic diseases,long-term medication,poor balance function,and fall history in the past three months were independent risk factors for falls in the elderly.
