Abstract:Objective To explore the application effect of Orem self-care theory in perioperative patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia. Methods A total of 78 patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia treated in Yichun Second People's Hospital from September 2019 to September 2021 were selected as research objects. They were divided into two groups by random number table method, with 39 cases in each group. The control group was treated with routine intervention, and the observation group was treated with Orem self-care theory until the patient was discharged. The selfcare ability,self-efficacy,quality of life and the incidence of complications were compared between the two groups. Results The scores of self-care concept, health knowledge level, sense of self-care responsibility and self-care skills in the self-care ability measurement scale(ESCA)in the observation group after intervention were higher than those in the control group, with significant differences(P<0.05).After intervention, the scores of general self-efficacy scale(GSEs)and the MOS item short from health survey(SF-36)scores in the observation group were higher than those in the control group, with significant differences(P<0.05).The total incidence of complications in the control group was lower than that in the control group, with significant difference(P<0.05).Conclusion Orem self-care theory can improve the self-care ability and self-efficacy of perioperative patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia, reduce the incidence of postoperative complications and improve the quality of life.
