Abstract:Objective To investigate the risk factors of postoperative delirium in patients undergoing spinal surgery under general anesthesia. Methods In a retrospective analysis of the clinical data of 935 patients treated with elective general anesthesia surgery in the Department of Spinal Surgery of North Guangdong People′s Hospital from October 2019 to September 2020, they were divided into non-delusion group (n=877) and delusion groups (n=58) according to whether there were delusions within 1 week after surgery. The gender, age, body mass index (BMI), smoking history, combined basic disease, operation time, intraoperative bleeding, postoperative hypoxemia, hemoglobin (Hb) levels in each group were analyzed. The postoperative risk factors were analyzed. Results The results of the univariate analysis showed that the patient′s age, pain pump use, blood loss, postoperative Hb, BMI value, type 2 diabetes, history of stroke disease, operation time, hypertension, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease history were the postoperative related factors (P<0.05). The results of the multivariate analysis showed that the long operation time, old age, history of stroke disease and hypertension were the independent high risk factors for the postoperative delusion in patients with general anesthesia spinal disease (P<0.05). Conclusion The high risk factors for patients with spinal surgery include old age, stroke history, hypertension, too long operation time, etc. It is necessary for relevant staff to work well and reduce the incidence of postoperative delirium in patients after surgery.
