Abstract:Objective To investigate the pediatric emergency trauma in Children′s Hospital of Jiangxi Province and understand its epidemiological characteristics. Methods The clinical data of 739 trauma children who admitted to the Department of Emergency at Children′s Hospital of Jiangxi Province from August 2020 to July 2021 were analyzed retrospectively. The analysis was carried on children′s gender, age, month, trauma, location of trauma, cause, prehospital disposal, and outcome of trauma. The intuitive statistical figure was made from these relevant data and the data were analysized between the groups according to the pediatric trauma score (PTS) which were divided into the group of PTS≥8 and the group of PTS<8.Results There are 739 children with trauma in total, including 441 males and 298 females. The ratio of the males and females is 1.5∶1.Trauma children aged 2-4 years were the most. The most common months of trauma were February and July to August.Trauma occurs mainly in family and road, falls and traffic accidents were the main reason of injury and the injuries of brain were most.Among the included children, there were 671 cases in the group of PTS≥8 points and 68 cases in the group of PTS<8 points. There were no significant differences in sex, age, location or month between the two groups (P>0.05).The severe trauma were mainly the fall injuries from heights(47.1%) and the injuries of traffic accident (36.8%),the majority were brain injuries (38.2%) and multiple injuries(54.4%).In the cause of trauma, the percentage of the fall injuries from heights in the group of PTS<8 points were obviously more than that in the group of PTS ≥8 points, the difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P<0.001).In the location of trauma, the percentage of the multiple injuries in the group of PTS<8 points were obviously more than that in the group of PTS≥8 points, the difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P<0.001).78.1% of trauma children were transported for more than 1 hour, and 80.0% of children with severe trauma lacked adequate prehospital treatment and there were many sequelae among them. Conclusion Understanding the characteristics of pediatric emergency trauma is helpful to develop scientific and reasonable prevention and control measures.
