Abstract:Objective To discusse the application effect of absorbable internal retainer in bone valve reset in the brain injury surgery of children. Methods Retrospective analysis was made on the clinical data of 63 patients with craniofacial brain injury from October 2015 to March 2019 undergoing surgical treatment of bone valve reset fixed, they were divided into study group (31 cases) and control group (32 cases) according to the different cranial reset fixed materials. The bone flap reset was fixed using the retaining body (square head screw and straight bone plate 4 holes) which could be absorbed in the fracture in the study group, and the bone flap reset was fixed using the 2.0 mm bone plate and 2.0 mm×5 mm titanium nail in the control group. The operative time, the total incidence of postoperative complications, the satisfaction of skull shape, the influence of postoperative imaging examination and the absorption of fixed materials were compared between the two groups. Results There were no significant differences in operation time, total incidence of postoperative complications and satisfaction of skull shape between the two groups (P>0.05). There was no artifact interference in postoperative CT, MRI, and X-ray imaging examinations in the study group, while the control group had clear metal artifact interference in postoperative CT, MRI, and X-ray imaging examinations; the fixation material in the study group was absorbed 8 to 18 months after surgery, and the metal plate in the control group had no absorption in the follow-up. Conclusion In the reduction and fixation of the bone flap during the operation of children with brain injury, there are no significant differences between the absorbable fracture internal fixation body and the metal fixation material in operation time, total incidence of postoperative complications and satisfaction with shaping. The fixation material can be completely absorbed after internal fixation of absorbable fractures, and it has no artifact interference to imaging examination, avoids carrying metal foreign bodies throughout the life, and is beneficial to the normal growth and development of children.
