Abstract:Objective To investigate the application of artificial pneumothorax assisted with single-port thoracoscopic thymectomy in patients with thymic tumors. Methods From September 2016 to December 2018, a total of 28 patients with thymic tumor underwent artificial pneumothorax assisted with single-port thoracoscopic thymectomy were selected as the experimental group, and a total of 38 patients with thymic tumor who underwent artificial pneumothorax assisted thoracoscopic (three hole) thymectomy in the same period were selected as the control group. The experimental group was treated with artificial pneumothorax assisted with single-port thoracoscopic thymectomy, while the control group was treated with artificial pneumothorax assisted thoracoscopic (three hole) thymectomy. The operation time, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative drainage volume and postoperative hospital stay were compared between the two groups. Results There were no significant differences in operation time, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative hospital stay, postoperative chest tube placement time, pathological type and the proportion of 26F drainage tube between the two groups (P>0.05). The visual analogue pain score of the experimental group at 24 h after operation was lower than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Both groups recovered well after operation, without complications or perioperative death, and there was no recurrence after 6 to 18 months follow-up.Conclusion Artificial pneumothorax assisted with singl-port thoracoscopic thymectomy is feasible and safe for patients with thymic tumor.
