Abstract:Objective To investigate the value of red blood cell distribution width (RDW)in the prediction of death of severe pancreatitis (SP)at different ages. Methods The retrospective analysis was performed, and the clinical data of 100 patients with SPin our hospital from January 2018 to December 2019 were selected. They were divided into 27 cases of youth group (18-34 years old),57 cases of middle-aged group (>34-59 years old)and 16 cases of elderly group(>59 years old)according to different ages. The RDW levels and death rate were compared among the three groups, and the value of RDW in the prediction of death of SPat different ages was analyzed. Results The RDW level in elderly group was higher than that in middle-aged group and youth group, and the RDW level in middle-aged group was higher than that in youth group, with statistical differences (P<0.05).There was statistical difference in the death rate among the three groups(P<0.05).The death rate in elderly group and middle-aged group was higher than that in youth group(P<0.05).The results of ROC curve showed that the area under the curve of RDW in predicting the death of SPat different ages was 0.720,which had certain predictive value. Conclusion RDW has certain predictive value for the death of SP at different ages.As the patient′s age increases, the higher the RDW level, the worse the prognosis of the patient, which can provide an important basis for clinical diagnosis and treatment.
