Abstract:Intravenous anesthesia with spontaneous breath is widely used in the surgical field due to its minimally invasive nature and advantages in enhanced recovery after surgery(ERAS).Most operations that require general anesthesia with endotracheal intubation can be performed under this anesthesia. However, previous literature is rarely reported on the pathophysiology and airway management of intravenous anesthesia with spontaneous breath. This paper compares intravenous anesthesia with spontaneous with traditional endotracheal intubation anesthesia from the aspects of pathophysiology, specific anesthesia management, exclusion or suition population, learning curve and ERAS to illustrate its feasibility, safety and advantages in ERAS,and thus demonstrates that it can be widely used in clinic under the condition of active preparation.
